About the Item
Original oil on board 8' x 20." Painting portrays a Native American teepee camp scene. They are set up in a meadow with pine and autumnal leaf trees surrounding. In the distance is a mountain range turning pink with the morning sun. Colors are muted and dark. Painting is set in a silver frame with hatched border around. Would display nicely in a Southwestern style home or cabin.
(1937-) Hartwig has won many awards, including the Triton Museum Competition. His paintings have sold at auction - Butterfields, Christie's and Phillips of London. He's professionally listed in art references, including Davenports, Leonard's and Who's Who in American Art.
