This early piece by Purvis Young, in large scale of broken wood and particle board fragments depict a "slave march" in search of freedom. Very powerful and meaningful. Urban art by well documented Miami artist, Purvis Young. This has been professionally shadow box framed with plexi glass cover.
Purvis Young, perhaps Miami's best known and most successful artist (1943-2010), observed his rough and turbulent surroundings for inspiration in his art. Using found objects and refurbished materials, his artworks are now prominently displayed in local and national galleries and museums. Collected by some of the world's most prolific collectors, this long painted wood scrap, is extremely unique and sought after. This piece is signed and was acquired directly from artist by Gustavo Olivieri while in his Overtown studios. Gustavo Olivieri truly enjoyed watching him work - see detail image of them in Mr. Young's studio.
