Émile Godchaux (1860–1938) was a French painter born in Bordeaux, active during the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Often confused with his brother Alfred, he is known for his marine scenes, landscapes, floral compositions, and genre scenes. His works are academically sound yet filled with emotional atmosphere, often reminiscent of late Romanticism.
Godchaux’s paintings are regularly sold in major auction houses (Drouot, Bonhams, Artcurial), and appear in international collections. He is featured in the Bénézit Dictionary of Artists and other art historical references.
