A delicate English School still life study by the listed British artist Lilian Buchanan (1914-2004).
An oil on board depicting a jug of vibrant poppies and hyacinths. Signed in the lower right hand corner C.1970.
Framed.
Provenance: Private London Collection.
In very good condition commensurate of age.
Lilian Buchanan (1914-2004).
The Oxfordshire based English artist attended the Horsey College of Art on a scholarship and later, after serving in the War, in 1947 attended the Camberwell College of Art where her tutors included William Coldstream and Claude Rogers.
Having exhibited at the Royal Academy, Lilian was well known for her many book illustrations having worked on books by Enid Blyton and other well-known authors.
