Original vintage still life painting by listed Swedish artist Eric Cederberg (1897-1984). Signed E Cederberg to the top right. In excellent original condition and presented in a gilt wooden frame with beige panels in good condition. Painting Dimensions : 16x27,5 cm with frame Dimensions : 27x38 cm Eric Cederberg, born in 1897 in Välluv, Sweden, was a notable artist known for his mid-century modern still life paintings and landscapes. He made his debut in the art world with an exhibition in Helsingborg in 1922. Over the years, he participated in significant exhibitions such as the Skåne Art Association Exhibition in 1926 and the Swedish Public Art Society exhibition in Stockholm in 1941. Eric Cederberg
Eric Cederberg represents a subtle but no less significant strand of Nordic Surrealism. Working in the postwar period, he developed a Surrealist approach influenced by Magritte— calm, lucid, and rich in visual paradox. His paintings reveal a poetic logic at once restrained and unsettling, emblematic of a “smooth Surrealism” unique to the North. Though he worked outside formal Surrealist circles, his contribution demonstrates how deeply Surrealist thought penetrated Nordic art by the mid-20th century, reshaping everyday scenes into sites of symbolic transformation. - Biography by Nagas, New York
