About the Item
Colorful Expressionist modernist American acrylic painting on canvas. The work is clearly an homage and influence of Bernard Buffet, the French Expressionist figurative painter. The artist has used the hard black line to delineate shapes and creates a lack of depth on the two dimensional canvas. Building and street signs are clearly marked: Yield Ahead, Stop, One Way, Walk, Bowl and Hotel. This artist has worked the canvas and applied medium, most likely, with brush and palette knife. Circa 1960. Unsigned.
Good overall condition. The piece is unframed. There are no visible rips, tears, punctures or holes in the canvas. No visible surface paint losses. Minor cosmetic wear to the painting due to age.
