About the Item
This impressive monumental painting, dating from the mid-19th century, is a remarkable piece of wall art. The oil on canvas work depicts an atmospheric Mediterranean scene with the Prince's Palace of Monaco, the coast, and ships. The painting bears the marks of its age, which contributes to its characteristic charm. Scuffs, discoloration, and various old repairs add to the authenticity. The vibrant colors and imposing size also make the work particularly impressive.
Because the painting has been hung many times over the years, old nail holes have developed in the edges. We used these to securely fasten the canvas to a wooden slat with old copper nails, making it easy and secure to hang immediately.
All in all, this is a unique, exclusive, and highly decorative object. Origin: France/Monaco.
