Fernando García Ponce (1933 - 1987) was a Mexican architect and painter from the Generación de la Ruptura (Breakaway Generation). He was born in Mérida, Yucatán to a Spanish father and a wealthy Yucatán mother. At age 11, he moved to Mexico City. He studied architecture at the Nacional Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM). He also studied painting under Enrique Climent. He is known by his collages and abstract paintings with geometric shapes.
