About the Item

A magnificent large traditional Indian gouache painting of a royal horse on silk. This Rajasthani piece is unique in that it is very large. We typically only come across the smaller Mughal style of paintings that are miniature in size. So finding this piece was a wonderful surprise! This piece comes from Northern India and features a royal Indian horse with pink accents. The painting has not been examined outside the frame, but we believe it to be painted on silk, as most are. A beautiful pink floral hand-painted border surrounds the animal. Just inside the gold gilt frame, is a lovely and unexpected pink marble matt inset into the frame. Such a lovely touch! This would be a great piece for a nursery or as a statement piece in an entryway or formal living. Dimensions: 36.5" Wide 30.5" Tall 1.25" Deep
