About the Item
Original Danish mid-century oil on plate painting of an alley in a Danish market town with traditional half-timbered houses. The painting has great architectural details and is kept in toned down earthy colours of the houses and street.
The piece is painted by Danish artist Frands Frandsen (1885-1979) and estimated to be from the 1940s. A description of Frans Frandsen - written on typewriter - is found at the back of the plate (in Danish). The text is underlining his eye for exterior painting and architecture.
The painting is framed in a gold painted wooden frame with carved ornaments and is signed in the bottom left corner.
