About the Item

A wonderful French 18th century Oil on Canvas and Giltwood painting of a mother and son by Robert Le Vrac de Tournières. The painting is framed within a richly carved giltwood frame with stunning seashell reserves at the center and at each corner. The charming mother and son are both dressed in elegant period attire, with the lovely woman in a blue silk dress with lace and gilt accents. The son is dressed in a silk brown shirt covered over by a cranberry colored coat. The mother is seated with her left arm laid atop a book, while her son is standing in front of her with his pointer finger out. At the bottom center of the frame is a plaque with the artist's name and the dates 1667-1752.
