18th Century Oil on Board, French School Painting of Four Putti Frolicking With a Goat. Painting features four cherubic putti--nude, playful childlike figures associated with love and innocence-- that are depicted in a pastoral setting, engaging in whimsical play with a goat. The landscape around them is surrounded with trees, leaves, and blue-green skies, representative of the French countryside. The color palette consists of creamy whites, blues, greens, and warm earth tones. Framed in exquisitely ornate, hand-carved 18th century gilt frame with carved scrolls, flowers, and acanthus leaves.
