About the Item

Beautifully painted in the deco manner of Tamara De Lempicka. Kirsta, a Russian artist escaped to Western Europe during the revolution, pursued a career as a painter and theatrical set designer. Much of Kirsta career was involved with The Ballet Russe, which Kirsta resurrected in 1952 and offers its last performance at London's Adelphi Theatre. Natasha Kirsta the great ballet teacher and administrator was the wife of Georg Kirsta from 1930-1954. The V&A has a collection of his works. Signed, dated upper right and framed.
