About the Item

This handsome gouache painting is of the Baroque Cathedral of the Virgin Mary of the Immaculate Conception in Havana Cuba. In front of the cathedral are Cuban figures and a 1928 Ford Model A sedan with luggage. It is framed with a beautifully worn carved wood silver frame and has double matte, one of hand drawn paper and the other a grey-blue. It is protected by glass. No signature. This is part of the "Ford Times" art collection of original watercolors and paintings. Ford Times was a monthly publication produced by Ford Motor Company. The1st issue was published on April 15, 1908 until April 1917, and stopping during World War I. After a more than 20-year break, they resumed publishing in 1943 and lasted 50 years until January 1993. Each issue usually consisted of several stories about destinations for sports, vacations or places of historic interest as well as promotional information about current Ford vehicles. N.P. Trent has been a respected name in antiques for over 30 years with a large collection of period furniture, art and decorative accessories.
