About the Item

Heyman Dullaert (Dutch, 1636-1684) Oil on Board Painting. Dullaert was a Dutch Golden Age painter, who worked under Rembrandt, and was known for 17th century mythological landscapes. The painting depicts a dramatic scene in which a river god rises from the water, reaching for a nymph, while two putti look on from the shoreline. Dullaert's distinctive use of soft, moody lighting and classical narrative themed creates a composition that feels both intimate and theatrical. Painting is housed in an ornate carved gilt frame, richly decorated with scrolling foliage and fruit motifs, its warm gold leaf surface enhancing the deep earth tones and blue highlights of the painting. In modern or minimalist interiors, painting will add warmth and drama, it also pairs beautifully with contemporary art, sculpture, and modern furniture. The gilded frame adds richness and texture, perfect for anchoring consoles or gallery walls in entryways or living areas. Frame has lower front brass plaque with "H. Dullaert" embossed.
