A large impressionist oil painting of a mountain hut nestled in the snowy Alps, rendered in soft pastel hues on canvas and beautifully encased in a handcrafted wooden frame. Painted by the German artist Schoettle in 1935. The artist's signature is placed on the right edge. A great painting from the first half of the 20th century.
Impressionism emerged in the second half of the 19th century and was particularly influential in painting. Impressionism originated in France, where artists such as Claude Monet, Pierre-Auguste Renoir, Edgar Degas and Camille Pissarro broke new ground in depicting their impressions of the world. The central concern of the Impressionists was to capture the fleeting moment, the play of light and the atmosphere of an instant - the focus was no longer on the exact representation of reality, but on subjective perception. Typical of Impressionist paintings are bright colors, visible brushstrokes and painting outdoors in order to capture natural light conditions as directly as possible.
