Oil on canvas. Portrait of a black spaniel with a duck by John Emms, (Blofield, Norfolk, 1841-1912) signed and dated lower right: JNP Emms / 95' 26" X30" A very well known and highly collected animal artist, (dog portraits). Found in many museums and private collections. Period gilt frame with full conservation and cleaning performed, (canvas re-lined). Many Emms' paintings realized in the six figure range at Auction.

    Repaired: Conservation and re-lining of canvas. Refinished. Wear consistent with age and use. Minor structural damages. Old tear repaired when the painting was conserved and cleaned. A clean tear that rejoined and consolidated with no visible scar.
