About the Item

Remarkable large oil canvas painting of an 18th century country French provincial French couple by artist Ira Yeager (American 1938-2022). The whimsical painting depicts a rural scene with figures carrying wine bottles and a tray with each having a fan. The couple is dressed in 18th century provincial attire with chickens and ducks. The painting has rich vibrant tones with a colorful yellow background. Signed bottom right with Yeager's nom-de-plume signature "Von Yeager" and a fictional date of 1762. The border of the painting has a Yeager trademark speckled edge an homage to when he could not afford frames for his works. Very impressive size and scale.
