About the Item
We present this fantastic oil painting on cardboard dating back to the early decades of the 20th century. The painting bears the signature N. Chianese on the bottom right (see photo). Attributable to the Italian landscape painter Nicolò Chianese (Sampierdarena, Genoa, 1898 – 1971), painted without authentication.
This is a painting of great artistic quality, in which the painter's sensitivity towards the representation of nature is clearly visible. It represents a splendid Italian countryside in the warm colours of summer where the intense yellow of the wheat field in the foreground captures the attention. The vegetation is lush with the tall, green trees that meet a clear blue sky in the background. The painter uses colour in a very material way with full-bodied brush strokes that create volume in the elements of nature. The colours, the light and the absence of characters create a fantastic atmosphere of peace and serenity that envelops the viewer, transporting him with the imagination to the delicate sounds of the countryside. The painting is accompanied by a beautiful golden frame.
