White Horse in its Stable, Oil on canvas, Signed on the reverse and dated 1870.
J. Truman was a highly respected equestrian artist; this oil painting on canvas, signed and dated on the reverse, perfectly illustrates his enduring popularity. He was well known for his portrayal of hunters and famous racehorses along with their jockeys and owners of the time.
Canvas size : 25.5 x 32.5cm. Frame overall : 48 x 40 x 8cm.
Vintage gilt frame of the period.
The painting in very good original condition with only minor paint loss to the extreme edges of the canvas where it meets the frame. There are no signs of restoration or overpainting. The frame itself could be restored.
