Johannes Hubertus Hendrikus “John” Bévort (Utrecht, 1917 – Schoorl, 1996) View of Manhattan Lower Eastside from the Brooklyn Bridge Oil on Canvas, Framed A finely executed cityscape of Manhattan’s Lower Eastside, viewed from the Brooklyn Bridge, by Johannes H.H. Bévort, a Dutch painter trained at the Artibus Utrecht Academy. Bévort is renowned for his palette knife technique, producing realistic landscapes, beaches, and urban scenes with expressive texture and vivid color. After relocating to Schoorl, North Holland, in 1960, he became known as the Schoorl painter. His works were exhibited primarily in the USA and Germany, and he was a member of the International Organization of Free Art. This work exemplifies Bévort’s characteristic style, combining precision of perspective with tactile, dynamic brushwork. Measurements: Canvas only; framed.
