A large English oil painting depicting three sheep in a barn with chickens from the late 19th century, signed W. Topham and set in a giltwood frame. This English oil painting depicts an exquisite barn scene featuring three sheep bathed in a golden light, and surrounded by a couple of chickens. The serenity of the scene is undeniable. The reclining sheep placed in the center is looking directly at us, inviting us in. The light coming from the left creates a wonderful contrast with the right side of the composition, illuminating the sheep's fleece. Signed W. Topham lower right, this 1880s is set inside a beautifully carved giltwood frame. With its large proportions and peaceful barn scene, this English painting will bring a touch of authenticity to any home.
