About the Item
A large and very decorative French oil on canvas painted panel featuring a countryside scene of a walking man from the beginning of the 20th century. The centre of the panel features a scene with a man dressed in hunting attire walking in an autumnal landscape, holding a shotgun. The blue sky and brownish ground blend in the ochre square panel that frames the scene, adorned with delightful arabesque scroll designs in shades of brown at the top and bottom, within a painted faux frame. A smiling mascaron animates this vegetal scrolling ornamentation beneath the central scene. This large French oil on panel circa 1900, with its delicate and elaborate decor framing a traditional hunting scene, could bring a picturesque touch into your home.
