About the Item
Intriguing abstract painting by noted NYC artist Jules Ganowitter. The painting features bold colors ( red, orange, blue, yellow ) which snake up the canvas in an organic vertical form, on a white and light blue background. This example is one of two from this series we have posted along with several other painting from Mr. Granowitter. The piece is in very good, original untouched condition, showing only light cosmetic wear, normal and consistent with age.
There is not much biographical information available about Jules Granowitter, beyond the following. He is a listed artist, born Brooklyn NY 1930, attended Cooper Union and worked in NYC as an illustrator, cartoonist, designer, and painter. We have acquired a collection of his paintings which were in storage in NYC for decades and are being offered at Barbarella Home, on 1st Dibs.
