About the Item
Elegant pair of oval paintings, created in pastel on paper and framed in carved, gilded wood. The exquisite frames, adorned with ribbons at the top, house two portraits of two women against a landscape backdrop. Both women are depicted in profile, with their faces turned three-quarters; one is older, wearing a black dress embellished with jewels, while the other, younger, wears a dress adorned with roses and sports a distinctive Art Nouveau hairstyle, with her hair tied back. These are two highly prized paintings, admired for their technique and stylistic rendering, highlighted by the attention to detail, capable of furnishing any space with elegance and a touch of antiquity. The painting of the older woman bears the signature of the painter F. Arrighi at the bottom right, which allows us to attribute the two paintings to Italian manufacture from the late 19th century.
