About the Item
A stunning late 19th century Tibetan Thangka depicting the Buddhist goddess, Sitatapattra. The term "Sitatapatra" translates to mean "White Umbrella" or "White Parasol," emphasizing her role as a protector deity. She is invoked for her power to shield her devotees from various forms of calamities, harm, and negative energies. Sitatapatra is celebrated for her ability to dispel obstacles, provide protection against supernatural dangers, and remove obstacles on the path to enlightenment.
Sitatapatra is depicted with multiple arms and sometimes as having a thousand arms and a thousand heads, creating a large white circle behind her body, symbolizing her immense power and the extensive protection she offers from all directions. Each of her hands may hold different symbolic objects, and the eye in the palm of each hand signifies her all-seeing nature, ensuring her devotees are safeguarded against all forms of evil and harm.
