About the Item
Ariane Beigneux American artist who was known for her portrait paintings of young children. This painting exemplifies the type of traditional portraits that were her specialty. Ariane Beigneux's portraits of children are owned and cherished by parents all over the United States. Some of her clients included the Rockefeller's, Weickers, Pillsbury,s and Doubledays. Her usual practice is to spend several days as part of the household, getting to know the child or children she is going to paint, studying them, taking as many 50-60 photographs before getting started. She would use a brush for the fine details otherwise she used a painting knife. Ariane Beigneux was born to French parents in Roxbury Ct. in 1918 and passed away in 2011. The canvas is 23" x 30" and is in a carved wood frame.
