Mid Century Abstract Art, signed lower right by Alice Esther Pollard (1867-1933) Housed in a 19th C Gilt Frame
Alice Esther Pollard was a painter who was active in St. Louis, Missouri, in the late 19th century and into the early 20th century. She was known for painting landscapes and portraits in oils and watercolor. She attended the Mary Institute in St. Louis and studied art at the St. Louis School of Fine Arts.
Pollard was active in different artist organizations during her lifetime. In 1893 she served as the secretary and treasurer of the St. Louis Art Students Association, and in 1895 she served as president of the St. Louis Art Society. Pollard exhibited her work at the St. Louis Exposition in the 1890s and with the St. Louis Artists' Guild.
