About the Item

Miniature depicting a Vanitas Memento Mori painted in pencil on paper. The frame, made of ebonized fruitwood and finished with black wax, is round with a circleinside, bordered by a gilded brass decoration that holds the glass. The miniature depicts a skull resting on a stone block shelf, on which sits an hourglass. A candle lies next to it, and a lily flower also lies on the other side. Germany, mid-19th century.
