Born in Yugoslavia in 1922, Todd studied in Paris under the direction of Marc Chagall from 1945 to 1948 and studied sculpture at the Academy of Fine Arts in Belgrade from 1948 to 1949, arriving in Melbourne in 1950. He organized his first solo exhibition in 1968, followed by exhibitions at
Sydney, Brisbane, Canberra, Adelaide, Perth and
Melbourne, and internationally in Yugoslavia and the
United States. He is known for his colorful and exotic paintings of naive style of birds and the environment,
