About the Item
We are pleased to present this oil on canvas painting from the first half of the 20th century. This splendid painting is signed in black on the lower right: Karpoff. It is likely the work of the Russian-born painter Ivan Karpoff (Novocercosk 1898 - Milan 1970), who later became an Italian citizen, without authentic.
This is a beautiful winter landscape painting featuring a snow-covered countryside with bare trees. On the left, a small river runs alongside a path with two figures walking through the snow. The painterly quality is evident in a highly personal style, characterized by rapid, textured brushstrokes that perfectly capture the rarefied winter atmosphere. Please note how the artist manages to convey multiple nuances despite using a simple, predominantly white color scheme.
