Framed and mounted on plywood measuring 15.5" x 27.25" x 2". #2574 Angela Kosta Driessen, also known as Angela Kosta, was a contributor to the 1966 "Artists Tower of Protest" (also known as "The Peace Tower"). The Peace Tower was a 58 foot steel tetrahedron which was erected in 1966 on Sunset Boulevard in Los Angeles to protest the Vietnam War. The structure had 418 panels attached to it and it was designed by the sculptor Mark di Suvero. Artists from around the world contributed to the tower, including Elaine de Kooning, Roy Lichtenstein, and Robert Rauschenberg (who provided the bulk of the funding to complete the work). The piece is in very good antique condition and measures 16.75" x 12.75". #2493 The piece came from the estate of a gentleman named Dr. Roger Dustin Mermod ("Poppy") who was born in Switzerland in 1888. Per the book, "Men of Hawaii", which is a biographical reference library, "complete and authentic, of men of note and substantial achievement in the Hawaiian Islands", Mermod came to Honolulu in 1917 to work at the Queen's Hospital as a physician and surgeon, eventually becoming Chief of Surgery.
