About the Item
An elegant and sophisticated example of high style Art Deco eglomise painting, this depiction of a stylized Orpheus figure with lyre and cape is painted in rich tones of gold, black and wine. Painted by a French artist who signed it "F," it is reminiscent of some of the larger reverse-painted murals that were executed for ocean liners and theaters in the 1930s and 40s.
