About the Item
Pair 18th century framed oil paintings by P. J. Boquet (1751-1817) represents two of the four seasons framed in the round. Reframed in the early 20th century, each work shows how Boquet has captured the essence of winter and the promise of a beautiful springtime. Each work is resplendent with jewel tones representing bright, sunny days to accentuate the landscape and animal subjects. Boquet was born in Paris and painted the surrounding countryside with astute vigor.
