About the Item

This pair of 19th-century oil portraits presents Adam Franz Bernhard, Baron von Hirschberg (1783–1864), and his wife, Charlotte Baroness von Hirschberg (1792–1857). Both are depicted in formal attire, reflecting their aristocratic rank: the Baron in Bavarian military uniform with distinguished orders, and the Baroness with pearls and a red sash of a ladies’ order. Their dignified poses capture the refinement of the Biedermeier period. On the back of each canvas, handwritten inscriptions note: “Copied from the original in Weihersberg” with detailed references to their names, dates, and titles. These provenance inscriptions confirm the sitters’ identity and reinforce the paintings’ historical authenticity.
