Rendered with fine detail and vibrant hues, the paintings are enhanced by their original wooden frames and equal dimensions, making them ideal for display as a complementary set. Each artwork features a 19th-century racehorse alongside its jockey, portrayed with striking use of colour and a keen eye for character. In the first composition, a chestnut horse is shown being led across an open landscape by a gentleman in stylish rural dress, likely the owner. The jockey, seated confidently atop the animal, wears vivid blue silks. The lower right corner bears a faint signature, and the reverse of the canvas includes indistinct handwritten text, presumably of the horse’s name.
