A Pair of Oil Paintings on Copper, Bolognese School, 18th Century
XVII century, in the style of Annibale Carracci (1560–1609), Circa 1660-1680's.
Provenance: Formerly with Cesare della Seta, president of La Societá di Antiquari, Rome, then in the personal collection of Nicola Marletta, Rome.
1. Scene from the Old Testament,
The repudiation of Hagar; Hagar being sent to the desert by Abraham with crying Ishmael in the foreground, Sarah in a doorway. Height: 33.5 cm., Width: 39.5 cm., Depth: 3cm.
2. Scene from the Old Testament,
Hagar in the desert; Hagar approached by the angel instructing her to return to Sarah and Abraham, the infant Ishmael asleep to the right. Height: 35.5 cm., Width: 41.5 cm., Depth: 3cm.
