Superb oil painting by Pierre Adrien Ekman (1904-1993). Beautiful representation of the Discovery of the New World. Painting style with touches of the Romantic, Naif, Art Deco, surrealist and mid century styles. Signed in the lower right corner.

Pierre Gustave Adrien Ekman, known as Pierre Adrien Ekman, was a French painter, decorator and writer, born on September 7, 1904 in Moisson and died on September 12, 1993 in Peille.
In 1928, as a painter, he collaborated on the illustrations for a new edition of Perrault's fairy tales, the tricentennial edition of the 33 engravers.
In January 1930, he took part in the exhibition of book decorators and illustrators held at the Cercle de la Librairie in Paris, where his presence was acclaimed5.
In 1947, he illustrated a reprint of Charles Baudelaire's novel Les Pièces condamnées.
In 1983, he was commissioned to restore frescoes dating from 1526, signed by Andrea de Cella, in the Notre-Dame del Bosc chapel on the road to La Roquette-sur-Var, overlooking the mooring of the ferry linking Saint-Martin to Gilette.
His reputation as a painter remains more confidential.
Best known for his graphic work, sometimes inspired by the fantastic and in some respects reminiscent of Dali's work, he produced numerous decorative works in various media, some of which were transformed into tapestries.
During his career, he collaborated with decorator René Drouet on furniture and interiors, notably a hexagonal hall decorated with views of Tuscany, framed by curtains, which was featured in an edition of Les décorateurs des années 40. He also worked on theater sets and collaborated with great cabinetmakers, notably Dunand.
In spring 1935, he took part in the Salon des artistes décorateurs held at the Grand Palais in Paris. A room created in collaboration with René Prou, featuring rattan beds and light-colored braids, with fine muslin curtains, was exhibited, seducing visitors with its fresh harmony. He also presented a decorative panel of his own design, described as "spiritually conceived and delicately united in its accords of gray".
