Cirano Castelfranchi Veduta del Naviglio a Milano di Via San Damiano dipinto ad olio su compensato di pioppo firmato da Cirano Castelfranchi, Milano 1912-1973. Il dipinto si presenta in buono stato di conservazione, entro cornice moderna con angoli dorati e ritrae una veduta della vecchia Milano dipinta con pennellata sicura e corposa. Il romantico Ponte delle Sirenette, oggi visibile nel parco Sempione a Milano, è ritratto in primo piano; realizzato su progetto dell'architetto Francesco Tettamanzi tra il 1840 e il 1842 dalla ditta Rubini-Scalini-Falck e C di Dongo; le decorazioni furono realizzate su modelli in gesso di Benedetto Cacciatori; il ponte fu commissionato da privati per essere posto sul naviglio in Via San Damiano, oggi Via Uberto Visconti di Modrone.
Sui parapetti erano presenti due iscrizioni latine a ricordo della realizzazione del primo ponte in ferro a Milano nel 1841 durante il dominio di Ferdinando I d’Austria.
Su ognuno dei piloni alle estremità venne posta una sirena con un remo in mano. In origine i pilastri erano decorati con fregi in ghisa, ancore e cigni reggenti festoni nella parte superiore, teste leonine nella parte inferiore.
Nato a Genova il 2 luglio 1912, Cirano Castelfranchi è sempre vissuto a Milano. Dipinge ad olio e acquarello come autodidatta. Ha frequentato a Brera la Scuola di disegno. Dal 1934 espone in mostre regionali e nazionali; e nel 1942 è stato premiato alla mostra dei Pittori italiani in armi a Palermo. Ha opere in collezioni private italiane e all’estero: New York, Parigi, Londra. Nel 1934 disegnò una serie di tavole con vedute di Milano.
