About the Item
A stunning Portrait of King Henri IV of France, father of King Louis XIII in the fantastic impressive hand carved gold gilded French baroque frame. Henri IV of France was the first of the Bourbon kings of France, who brought unity and prosperity to the country after the ruinous 16th-century Wars of Religion. Perhaps he wasn’t a great strategist but his courage and gallantry made him a great military leader. He was also known by the epithets Good King Henri or Henri the Great. Henri IV was assassinated in Paris in 1610.
The portrait is of the period and absolutely masterfully painted.
