This beautiful portrait of an Elizabethan woman is a bit larger than Calzolari's usual portraits. You are able to see the great detail that went into painting the ornate standing ruff collar and the beautiful jewels. The image size 5.18" x 3.25". The below measurement are with the frame. The frame and matting are in rough condition - I would suggest replacing them to match you decor. The painting is in excellent condition. Artist biography (born 1936) Ida Calzolari was born in 1936 in Italy. She is known for paintings. Ida Calzolari comes from a long line of painters in Venice. Her grandfather, Enrico, was a teacher in the Beaux Arts in Venice; together with his son, Mario, he spent much time studying Flemish artists. Ida has continued with her family's love affair with Flemish art. The ambassadors of Italy, Iran, and USA, as well as many private collectors own her work. In 1983 twelve of her paintings were exhibited in Washington at the behest of Ronald Reagen. She is currently represented by the J.M.Stringer Gallery in New Jersey. Her paintings are held in many galleries across the world. The outer framing and velvet matting are in poor condition but the portrait is in excellent condition. Portrait is 5.25”x 3.25” in the frame its 10.75” h x 8.75” l x 1.25” d. IDA Calzolari (Italian born 1936) The Calzolari family has been a Florentine painter family for generations. Mario was the son of Enrico Calzolari, an artist and art teacher in Florence in the early 20th century. Enrico and Mario founded a Florentine art shop in 1910 which is still run by the third and fourth generations. Mario and his daughter IDA produced works of art in the style of the old Flemish and Renaissance painters. Since Mario's death IDA carries on this tradition with her daughter Giovanna.
