Surrealistic style oil painting on canvas in original partially gilded wood frame with velvet mat - artist signed and dated along right side. Portrait of a woman in landscape w/ brilliantly flowered dress by Catherine Senitt-Harbison ( American - Canadian b. 1945 - Rochester, NY ) Her works are in the permanent collections of major Canadian public galleries, though she has not publicly exhibited since 1979. Her works were shown at the prestigious Pollock Gallery ( that also represented such as artists as Ken Danby, David Hockney and Willian de Kooning ) from 1967 through 1975 and the Merton Gallery from 1977 to 1978. Her work is known for its creativity and sophisticated use of naive forms / abstract portraiture / hybrid human-animal forms reminiscent of Hieronymous Bosch and Paul Gaugin. Framed measurements are 28 1/2" h x 23 1/2" w x 1 3/4" d / image size - 21 1/2" h x 16 1/2" w. Look at all pictures and read condition report in comment section.
