About the Item
The antique paintings category, Sea Paintings proposes a stretch of the French Riviera.
The work depicts a marina, a glimpse of the rocky coastline of the Mediterranean Sea,
painted in warm colors.
This is an oil painting on Faesite panel from the period Late 19th century, Early 20th century.
The painting is signed Luigi Lanza (1860-1913), an Italian painter of landscapes and marine paintings,
brother of the painter Giovanni Lanza. Active in the 19th century.
Luigi Lanza (1860-1913) born in Venice, where he studied at the Venice Academy and devoted himself
to oil painting of lagoon landscapes and perspective views.
He participated in the 1881 exposition in Turin,
he also later exhibited his works in Florence, Milan, Venice and Genoa.
Finally in 1888 he exhibited the painting "I Frari" at the Exhibition of Italian Art in London.
The antique painting bears a lacquered carved wooden frame
early 20th century original, coeval with the work.
The painting and the frame are restored.
