Raymond Milton Schell (1936-2014) - "Early One Morning" - Canadian school fine art landscape acrylic painting on linen canvas mounted to Birch ply - exacting detail throughout from the grassy landscape and path to the gradient early morning sky - signed and dated lower left - titled and numbered on the back - contained in the original gallery / exhibition walnut finish frame with gilt details, linen liner and fillet (likely chosen by the artist) - Canada - circa 1985.
Excellent / mint pre-owned / vintage condition - no loss - no damage - no restoration - minor scuffs to the original frame - minimal signs of age and use.
Painting Size / Dimensions - Medium - 11 1/2" (29.2 cm) wide x 15 3/8" (39 cm) high.
Frame Size / Dimensions - Medium - 20" (50.4 cm.) wide x 24" (61 cm) high x 2" (5 cm) deep.
RAY SCHELL was a self taught artist keen on capturing the mood and landscapes of Southwestern Ontario. Born in Sarnia, he set up his studio in Port Lambton on the St. Clair River. Known for his quick wit, sense of humor and patience - all of these qualities evident in his paintings as well.
Provenance - Purchased directly from the artist by the gallery owner who represented him in Chatham, Ontario in the 1980's. First time offered for public sale. Two other paintings by this artist are also available.
