About the Item
Born in India to an Australian mother and a Dutch sea captain father, painter, printmaker and illustrator Richard Bosman's peripatetic upbringing influenced his singular view of the world. Populated by a pulp fiction reality and executed with an almost slapdash exuberance his work falls into the late 1970s Neo-expressionist movement which was a reaction to against Conceptual and Minimal Art. Richard Bosman's work is held in the permanent collections of the Museum of Modern Art, the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the National Gallery of Art, Washington, D.C., the Bibliothèque Nationale de France, Paris, the Museo Rufino Tamayo, Mexico City and the Museum of Contemporary Art, Los Angeles.
