About the Item
Fantastic original art piece by California artist, Robert Gilberg c 1960s. This was from his Japanese nude series. All these works were painted on antique Japanese ledger paper. This piece was expertly framed in a shadow box frame. The frame itself is a black lacquer with hints of red lacquer that peek through. It’s a stunning frame that fits this piece perfectly.
Originally from Oakland, Ca and born in 1911, Gilbert attended the Oakland Art Center in the 1930s and in the late 1940s moved to the Gold Country, his work included abstractions, figurative work and he worked in various mediums, pen and ink, charcoal, collage and oils. Gilbert had many group and one man shows during his lifetime.
