About the Item
Robert Natkin mixed media/ painting from his Field Mouse series, which was primarily done in the years 1969 to 1972 after being after a trip to Europe and being influenced by some of the French abstract impressionists. They are very active/busy paintings with a lot of movement in them, almost like a mouse running around a field. Most that I have seen have had much brighter late 1960s/early 70s color palettes. While these intensely colorful paintingsare wonderful, it is special to see one of these paintings with a more gentle color palette. Done on high quality rag paper. Possibly other techniques used in addition to paint (lithograph, Scratching, Pencil, Other techniques? (20.375"H x 30.5"W) - Art Size (22.5"H x 26.75"W)

Robert Natkin (1930-2010) was a New York artist known for his abstract expressionist paintings.
Born in 1930 in Chicago, Robert Natkin grew up in an extended Russian-Jewish immigrant family. In 1948 he began studies at the Art School of the Art Institute of Chicago. He was strongly influenced by the Post-Impressionists and Abstract Expressionism, the latter through an article in Life magazine.
