About the Item

A 19th century oil on tin folk retablo San Vicente Ferrer, a Dominican Friar who traveled 21 straight years spreading his faith as a missionary. Saint Vincent is the patron saint of construction workers, builders, and plumbers and in retablo art he is often depicted in the manner shown here, as a winged and sainted angel with a crucifix in hand and a finger pointing to God. This item does not belong to the mexican heritage as it has been acquired and/or comes from a private collection outside Mexico. * Illustrated in 'The Art of Private Devotion'. * Exhibited at the Meadows Museum, Dallas, TX., March, April 1991. Book and framed handbill both included with purchase of retablo.
