Original Vintage Poster, Expressionist for an Art Exhibition at the Larensche Gallery in Amsterdam dated 1916 by Jan Sluijters. This is a very rare poster for an exhibition of Sluijters’ work at the The Larensche Kunsthandel in 1916. This exhibition poster is by Jan Sluiters. Jan (Johannes Carolus Bernardus) Sluijters (1881 – 1957) who was a Dutch painter and co-founder of the Moderne Kunstkring (see below 1). He was a leading pioneer of various post-impressionist movements in the Netherlands and experimented with several styles, including fauvism and cubism, finally settling on a colorful expressionism. His paintings feature nude studies, portraits, landscapes, and still lifes. The Larensche Kunsthandel was founded in 1905 by Nico van Harpen (1858-1931) and specialised in contemporary Dutch art and represented painters from Laren and the surrounding area, in the tradition of Dutch Impressionism...
