Antique Welsh River landscape with Fly Fisherman, by S. Thompson, 19th century, entitled "View Near Stamdrinidad sic South Wales," an English School folk art oil on canvas angling scene. In very good condition, but exhibits two patches on the reverse where the painting was conserved. Measures: 19 ¾ in H x 27 5/8 in W.

There is also a label from The Thomas Co, Picture Framing, Washington D.C. D.A. Fisher lived in Portland Maine and was a prolific painter of primarily marine landscapes, with subjects focused primarily in southern Maine, but also Massachusetts and New Hampshire. While his work is quite similar and sympathetic with "The Brushians," a group of about 16 artist from Portland that painted on outings around Casco Bay...
